Swami Vivekananda wanted man-making, character-building education. Character can be built by imbibing positive values. A personality can be shaped best if it can be shaped when the person is young. So, Shri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Rajkot organizes value-oriented camps called ‘MA SARADA SANSKAR SHIBIR’ for children of the age of 8 -13 years during the Summer Vacation of Schools and on Sunday mornings.
The motive of the camp is to put the seed of the eternal values of Indian Culture in the young minds of the children.
The activities of the camp are as follows:
Everyday the camp begins with prayer, meditation and bhajans.
Moral and inspirational stories are told.
Children are taught Yogasanas.
Various skills of drawing, painting and easy handicraft are taught.
Meetings are held with eminent personalities of art and culture.
Snacks are be provided to the children at the end of the camp.
Children are taught the need of exercise, healthy food, community feeling, respect to elders and other values that will help them to built a true character, as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda
The camp is conducted from 8.30 to 10.00 a.m in the exhibition halls of the Ashrama library
