Even the least work
done for others awakens the power within;
even thinking the least good of others gradually instill into
the heart strength of a lion. |

Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Rajkot has been
serving the people of Gujarat in its own humble way through
various relief and rehabilitation services from the very beginning
of its inception in 1927. Sri Ramakrishna, Ma Sarada Devi,
Swami Vivekananda themselves served people in their sufferings
with their own hands. Keeping this Ideal and Example as inspiration,
the monks, devotees and volunteers plunge into relief services
whether it is devastating earthquake, yearlong droughts, cyclones,
floods or any other natural disaster.
Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Rajkot has the unique characteristic
of being besides the afflicted during such disasters at the
earliest instance, being inspired by the spirit of service
of ‘God in Man’, which is their motto. The service
may be sometimes appearing like a drop in the ocean in the
face of the massive disaster, but the inner-lying belief is
that each act of service, however humble is an act of worship
of the Divine in All.
Under the guidance of the monks of the Ashrama, the devotees
and the volunteers organize the relief work, dividing the
huge amount of work among them. Some devotees and volunteers
stay in the ashrama for long hours doing the work of packing
the relief materials like dry food kits etc. while others
go to the site of the disaster along with the monks to distribute
the materials to the needy with their own hands. |
