| Ratanpar is about 275 km. away from Rajkot in the very remote
Great Runn of Kutch . It is extremely drought prone and neglected,
lacking basic medical and educational facilities.
During the prolong droughts that occur recurrently in this
desert area, making the local people utterly destitute for
the lack of their regular ways of earning, Sri Ramakrishna
Ashrama, Rajkot has conducted relief by distributing green
fodders for cattle, ration kits to poor destitute women, school-uniforms
for students, blankets during winter, etc.
‘Sri Ramakrishna Dev Vidya Sankul’, an education
centre at Ratanpar is dedicatedly working for the local tribal
students. As storage of rainwater is the only source of drinking
water, the Ashrama has constructed 3 big underground water
tanks for storing rainwater in the school campus. Solar lights
(street\home light) have also been installed.
Every year the Ashrama sponsors food expenses for 50 students
and school uniform for all the students. Maintenance of the
school building, water pipelines, aids for vocational courses
are also taken care by the Ashrama. |
