Language Courses

Vivekananda Institute Of Languages - VIL

Why languages?

Swami Vivekananda said: ‘Expansion is life, contraction is death’. The modern age is an age of globalization, where the world has turned into a ‘global village’. No one can afford to stay isolated in this modern world. To survive, one needs to expand one’s frontiers.

Languages are the sure means to expand as they bring people together by transcending social, cultural and national barriers. Languages help one to understand one’s own cultural traditions and also make one aware about the diverse cultures of various nations. It also opens vast avenues of opportunities for anyone who is willing to travel extensively for purpose of study, jobs and business. It makes one feel ‘one with the world’.

The Ashrama conducts various language learning courses with nominal fees.

English - the Burning Need

The students educated in Gujarati–medium are often found to lack in communication skills in English.

In spite of having the best of talents, these students however, often fail to compete successfully in an English speaking competitive environment. We found the students to fall behind in their career opportunities only for this communication demerit.

In order to assist them to ‘stand on their own feet’, as envisaged by Swami Vivekananda, the Ashrama has short-term language learning courses in English, especially in ‘Spoken English’.

Salient Features of the VIL English Course:

Sanskrit - the language of India’s glorious past

The treasures of India’s great spiritual and cultural heritage lie hidden in Sanskrit language. Unfortunately, the modern generation, is unaware of their glorious cultural heritage.

Swami Vivekananda visualised India seated on her throne of glory. In order to fulfil Swamiji’s dream, India needs to go back to her roots. The only way is through strengthening the cultural & spiritual roots of the country.

Therefore, a  special course on ‘Sanskrit and Indology’ has been designed where students are introduced to the great cultural heritage of India.

Salient Features of the VIL Sanskrit Course:

The students are introduced to great Sanskrit literary works that form the basis of the India’s culture.
