Kindly accept our namaskar and good wishes. Hope you all are keeping well by the grace of God. Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Rajkot has completed 80 years of its multifarious philanthropic services to entire Gujarat with the spirit of worship of God in man.

Vivekananda Eye Care Centre of Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Rajkot has dedicated itself in various kinds of eye care medical services. It is rendering its services by treating poor and needy patients of Rajkot and surrounding villages. Free eye camps are regularly arranged in the remote villages where eye operations are done free of cost.

As number of patients is increasing day by day we have started constructing a first floor of the dispensary. The entire first floor (3900 Sq. Ft.) will be utilized for eye care activities, which will be well equipped with eye instruments and inbuilt Operation Theatre. The ground floor will be dedicated for physiotherapy with special facilities for treating Cerebral Palsy & Developmentally Challenged children.


We are giving herewith details of expenses:

Construction Cost (3900 Sq. ft.):	Rs. 26 Lacs
Cost of Instruments for Operation Theater:	Rs. 25 Lacs
Cost of Laser Machine:	Rs. 19 Lacs
Cost of Lift and other facilities for patients:	Rs. 10 Lacs
Total Cost:	Rs. 80 Lacs

The Total cost of the building, eye instruments etc is approx. Rs. 80 lacs.

You are aware that blindness occurs mainly due to two reasons: Cataract, Diabetes Mellitus. WHO statistics show that India has the highest number of diabetics in the world. According to World Health Organization, in 2007, the number of people with diabetes in India would be 40.9 million.

Diabetes is a common cause for blindness. It affects the retina of the eye, thus causing gradual blindness. Laser surgery is one of the remedies. People are often unaware of this cause. Laser treatment for is also very costly.

After doing survey, we understood that there are very less facilities to treat diabetic patients in entire Saurashtra & Kutch. So, the Ashrama decided to enter in this field by starting an “Ophthalmic Diabetic Centre”, which is the burning need of the hour. It will be dedicated to treat diabetic patients. At present the outside rates for the laser treatment is up to Rs 4500/- to 5000/- (for three to four sittings). No doubt, at the Ashrama, treatment will be available at very nominal rates of less than Rs. 1000/-.

The cost & installation of the laser-operating machine will be around 18 to 19 lakhs. We earnestly request to well wishers like you to kindly help us fulfill this mission of ‘Daridranarayana Seva’ as envisioned by Shri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda. Your noble contribution will certainly help us to serve better the cause of suffering humanity and.
